24/11/23 Year 3 Autumn 2 Week 2 and 3

Year 3 are really enjoying the new Science topic, Forces and Magnets. We have been thinking about the push and pull forces that we use everyday with activities like: pushing in our chairs, switching on the lights, pulling the blinds up and down, typing on a keyboard along with so many more. We have also been investigating friction on different surfaces with force meters; measuring the number of newtons needed to pull a shoe. This week we began investigating with magnets! First we investigated with a variety of objects to see which were magnetic and concluded that ‘metal is magnetic’. However, when we investigated further we discovered that not all metals are magnetic. Next week we’ll be investigating which magnets are the strongest.
