RISE in school – promoting positive mental health!

Positive Mental Health

Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing is something we all believe in. This year we have teamed up with RISE – an organisation who works in schools and colleges across Newcastle and Gateshead to support children and young people (aged 5-18) with their emotional wellbeing and mental health.  Jess and Annie (our RISE practitioners) delivered their first session today starting off with a fantastic assembly showing us some great techniques to use to feel calm and relaxed.  We loved the HOT CHOCOLATE HUG!!!!  We can’t wait to see them every Tuesday!

RISE practitioners work with parents, teachers and education professionals to help young people feel more in control and more resilient in managing their wellbeing and mental health.   RISE want to support as many pupils as possible. That’s why they take the ‘whole school approach’.

This means, as well as working directly with young people who need structured support, they also work alongside teachers to plan lessons and deliver training in how to manage specific mental health issues.

By enabling professionals and parents to better support young people’s wellbeing, they aim to reach more young people in the long term.
