This week, Reception Class read "After the Storm" by Nick Butterworth.  We painted pictures of animals and used collage techniques to create animals.  We made up our own animal stories using our small world resources and some of us created a tree house just like the one Percy made for the animals!  We located the United Kingdom on a map and a globe and talked about the countries that make up the UK.  We also located where we live in England.  We talked about the climate in the UK and some of the animals that are found here.  We talked about nocturnal and diurnal animals and played a game where we sorted the animals according to whether they slept at night, like us or during the day.
