Reception Class have been carefully observing some very special visitors over the past few weeks.  We received some caterpillars in the post!  We watched as they grew from very small caterpillars into rather large caterpillars!  We then observed the as they travelled to the top of the pot they were living in and watched as they each made a chrysalis!  We then moved them into a special net and were enthralled as we saw butterflies emerge.  They were quite still to begin with but after some juicy orange they started to get quite active.  We then decided it was time to let them fly away!  We have followed this up in class with lots of butterfly activities!
