Our Mini Health Champions are a dedicated group of pupils chosen by their teachers for their caring, compassionate nature and their enthusiasm for supporting others. Each year, they attend the Schools Health and Wellbeing Service’s Mini Health Champion Conference, where they learn how children and families can stay healthy—both physically and mentally—and how to keep themselves safe. Equipped with this knowledge, they create an action plan based on the priorities they want to promote within school. They lead assemblies to share their learning and plans with their peers, and they write a newsletter for parents to highlight these priorities and encourage support from home. Through their leadership, our Mini Health Champions help to build a healthier, safer, and more informed school community.
Our priorities for this year (2026-27) are:
- Implement 'Walking Wednesdays'. Parents are encouraged to park at Sunniside Park and join our walkign bus to school.
- Complete the 'Daily Mile'. Mini Health Champions will work alongside the Sports Crew and create a rota for someone to lead the daily mile each day (wearing a hi-viz vest) which may encourage others to take part.
- Share fire safety within the house via assembly and newsletter.
- Share basic first aid via assembly and newsletter.
- Create a video for parents reminding them to park considerately and respectfully around our school on a morning and afternoon.
